Design process

Every great garden starts with a conversation.
Whether you have a clear vision in mind or just a few ideas, the first step is to reach out to us. You can use our online form, give us a call, or send us an email — whichever feels easiest.

When you get in touch, we’ll ask a few simple questions about your garden, your goals, and what you’d love to achieve. This helps us understand your project and ensures we’re the right fit for your needs.

Once we’ve received your details, we’ll arrange a convenient time to discuss your ideas further and outline the next steps.

Contact us

Your garden journey continues with a relaxed, face-to-face chat — all from the comfort of your own home.

We’ll arrange a video call at a time that suits you, where you can walk us through your space, share your ideas, and show us any inspiration you’ve gathered.

During this session, we’ll:

  • Learn more about your vision, lifestyle, and budget.

  • Answer any initial questions you may have.

  • Discuss design possibilities and the best way forward.

This consultation helps us understand your garden on a deeper level, while giving you the chance to get to know us and how we work. It’s an easy, no-pressure way to make sure we’re aligned before moving on to the design stage.

Video consultation

Every garden is unique, so our design process is flexible to suit your needs. We offer a range of stages — from simple layout plans to fully detailed 3D presentations — so you can choose how far you’d like to take your project.

Stage 1: Initial Concept Plan

We begin with a clear, scaled 2D plan that outlines the overall layout of your garden. This “big picture” stage focuses on structure, flow, and functionality — where paths, patios, planting areas, and features will sit. It’s the foundation for everything that follows.

Stage 2: Detailed Layout & Planting Plans

Once the overall concept is agreed, we add more detail. This includes paving materials, levels, planting zones, and key garden features. Planting plans can also be provided, showing recommended species and how they’ll work together season by season.

Stage 3: Mood Boards & Visual References

To help you visualise the design, we create supporting boards with colour palettes, textures, and inspiration images. These give you a feel for how your finished garden will look and ensure we’re capturing the right style for you.

Stage 4: 3D Visualisations

For clients who want to see their garden come to life before it’s built, we can produce 3D models and photo-realistic images. These immersive visuals show your space from every angle and help you imagine yourself in the finished design.

Stage 5: Technical Drawings (Optional)

If you’re moving forward to construction, we can provide detailed technical drawings and specifications. These ensure every element of your garden can be accurately costed and built exactly to plan.

Design stages

Once your design is complete, we’ll send everything directly to you via email in an easy-to-access format.

  • CAD Drawings – Delivered as PDF files, so you can view them on any device and share with contractors if required.

  • 3D Visuals (if chosen) – Supplied as high-resolution images, perfect for getting a realistic feel of your future garden.

  • Supporting Documents – Planting schedules, mood boards, and notes are also provided digitally for your reference.

This digital-first approach means your plans are ready to use straight away, easy to store, and simple to share with landscapers or builders when the time comes.

Design delivery

One of the most exciting parts of designing a garden is choosing the materials that will bring it to life. Today, there’s an incredible range of high-quality options available — whether you want something sleek and modern, warm and natural, or timeless and traditional.

Some of the materials we regularly work with include:

  • Paving & Stone – Porcelain, natural sandstone, limestone, granite, and bespoke decorative slabs.

  • Decking & Timber – Hardwood, composite decking, and feature cladding for a contemporary finish.

  • Walls & Structures – Brick, rendered block, gabion stone, sleepers, and modern steel edging.

  • Planting Materials – Rich soils, mulches, decorative gravels, and aggregates to enhance beds and borders.

  • Finishing Touches – Lighting, water features, outdoor kitchens, fire pits, and bespoke furniture.

With so many possibilities, we’ll guide you through the options and help select the right mix of textures, colours, and finishes to complement your home and lifestyle.

A great design deserves the right team and materials to bring it to life. We’ll point you in the direction of trusted suppliers for everything from paving and plants to lighting and garden features. By working with reliable sources, you’ll have confidence in the quality, durability, and finish of every element in your garden.

When it comes to building your project, we can also recommend experienced contractors we know and trust. These professionals understand how to work from detailed design plans and are skilled at delivering high-quality results.

While you’re always free to choose your own team, our recommendations give you a head start — saving you time, reducing stress, and ensuring your garden is built to the standard it deserves.
